This week’s packed town hall in Calgary was an incredible success, and we thank everyone who came out. We had planned for about 200, but enthusiasm was overwhelming, and, in the end, over 800 Calgarians joined us. Jason had the chance to speak directly to Albertans about his plan to unite Alberta into a single free-enterprise party.
At the same town hall, we were also excited to announce the endorsement of Richard Gotfried, Progressive Conservative MLA for Calgary-Fish Creek. We now have well over 50 MLA’s (past and present) supporting the movement to unite Alberta, including 3 sitting PC MLAs.
“I am grateful to receive Richard’s endorsement for leadership of the PC party. Richard’s
reputation and work as a community builder is a critical addition to our Unity Campaign. In the time that I’ve known Richard, I’ve also been impressed with his dedication and support for PC party youth. Given his principled approach to public service and steadfast belief in Alberta’s free-enterprise spirit, I look forward to working with Richard on this leadership campaign," said Jason, in response to Richard’s endorsement..
Our campaign also saw a successful run of delegate selection meetings, electing a full slate of unite delegates in Chestemere-Rocky View and Calgary Glenmore. We had just about a full slate in Athabasca-Sturgeon-Redwater, and Edmonton-McClung and the momentum continues to grow!
Hundreds of new members joined following events in Brooks, Fort McMurray, and Sundre, and the message we keep hearing from Alberta remains the same: Albertans want low taxes in tough economic times, and they want a government that puts the economy before ideological policies.
This week, Jason’s Unity Tour also hosted a town hall in Edmonton, followed by stops in Banff, Canmore, and Red Deer.
Next week we will be holding town halls in Rimbey, Medicine Hat, Edson, and Hinton.
We thank you again for your continued support in our movement to unite Alberta under one, free-enterprise party.
