STEPHEN HARPER ASKS ALL ALBERTA CONSERVATIVES TO JOIN HIM IN BUYING A PC ALBERTA MEMBERSHIP TO ELECT JASON KENNEY THE NEXT LEADER OF THE PARTY

Stephen Harper and Laureen Harper

A Message from Stephen Harper:

Conservative unity allowed us to form the longest-serving Conservative government since Sir. John A Macdonald.

This unity allowed us to cut taxes, to balance the budget, to rebuild our Canadian military, and to get tough on violent crime.

But while we have united the party and the movement federally, that conservative unity has been missing here in Alberta.

And with terrible consequences.

Workers losing their jobs.

Businesses closing their doors.

Taxes skyrocketing.

Families without prospects.

That must change my friends.

Now friends, I believe that the leadership and the membership of the Wildrose Party want conservative unity and want positive change for this province.

And now friends, someone has stepped forward to bring an agenda of conservative unity and positive change to the PC Party.

That someone has been at my side for almost a decade and a half.

He has demonstrated time and again that he is a principled, thoughtful, and highly capable Conservative.

And friends, I would ask you tonight, I would ask all Alberta members of the Conservative Party of Canada, to join me and to work to elect as the next leader of the PC Party of Alberta, the Honourable Jason Kenney.

Stephen Harper

Stephen Harper and Peter Mackay led the way in uniting Conservatives

Stephen Harper and Peter Mackay

In the 1990s, the Canadian Alliance and the Progressive Conservatives duked it out leading to three consecutive Liberal majority governments. Stephen Harper and Peter Mackay were able to win only when their parties united. Here in Alberta - conservative unity is neccessary to make certain we defeat the NDP in the next election.

  • With the exception of Sandra Jansen (who has promised to leave if Jason is elected), the PC Party and the Wildrose Party have voted together 86% of the time since the 2015 election.
  • Former Wildrose Interim Leader Heather Forsyth (who refused to cross the floor in 2015) supports Jason’s open and transparent plan for conservative unity between Wildrose and PC Alberta
  • Any merger arrangement must be done with the backing of the grassroots members of the parties in the open as it was with Stephen Harper and Peter Mackay – not like what happened in Alberta in 2015

JASON KENNEY IS THE PRINCIPLED CONSERVATIVE WHO WILL SERVE ALBERTANS

Jason Kenney served in the Harper Conservative government as Minister of Defense, Minister of Immigration, and Minister of Employment and Social Development.

He fought for lower taxes and balanced budgets in Ottawa alongside Stephen Harper.

And as Minister of Defense oversaw the Canadian Forces bombing mission against the Islamic State.

Jason has always been a champion for taxpayers. Prior to being elected he was the President of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, Canada’s most effective taxpayer advocacy group.

He has the proven track record to be the leader we need to bring back the Alberta Advantage.

What people are saying about Jason

"I think the NDP are rattled by [Kenney]. I know the premier is putting on a calm face, and, you know, ‘she doesn’t care, she’s not following this, she’s not thinking about it.’ Butbehind the scenes, the [NDP] seems to be scrambling. I’ve seen numerous NDP members on Twitter, you know, one of them saying ‘this is war, we need your help, donate now.’ The [NDP] itself put out a mock press release endorsing Jason Kenney as leader of the PC Party. So it’s got their attention. No doubt about it."

Rob Breakenridge, AM 770, July 8, 2016"

"Jason Kenney has a long history of working hard in Ottawa for the best interests of Albertans. He has been both consistent and principled in his approach to governance over two decades. As a lifelong Progressive Conservative, I am pleased that Alberta Prosperity Fund is endorsing a candidate dedicated to bring Alberta’s conservative family back together."

Jim McCormick, Vice-Chairman of the Board for the Alberta Prosperity Fund, July 5, 2016

"[Kenney] says he is only interested in creating a broad-based coalition of mainstream, fiscal, progressive and social conservatives aimed at reversing the damage the NDP are doing. I give him a better than even chance of doing just that."

Lorne Gunter, Edmonton Sun, July 7, 20165

"Mr. Kenney has established himself as one of the most influential non-prime ministers in the history of Canadian public life."

Editorial, The National Post, March 4, 2013

"[Jason Kenney] has repeatedly shown himself to be a principled politician who is willing to stand by what he has said and act according to his moral framework and conscience."

Susan Martinuk, Calgary Herald September 28, 2012

"I have been impressed by your efforts to support the rights of oppressed people around the world."

Dalai Lama letter to Jason Kenney, May 23, 2014

JASON KENNEY WILL STAND UP FOR OUR OIL AND GAS SECTOR

Jason will never apologize for our world-class energy sector and he will work tirelessly to set the record straight regarding the mistruths being peddled by highly paid professional agitators.

Here’s the facts about Alberta’s oil and gas industry: it is the most socially responsible; the highest environmental standards; the best environmental monitoring; run by Albertans who take pride in a job well done.

Jason won’t compromise when it comes to his promise to completely end the NDP’s job-killing carbon tax.

ALBERTA NEEDS SOMEONE WHO WILL GO TOE-TO-TOE WITH JUSTIN TRUDEAU'S LIBERALS — NOT GO ALONG WITH THEM

Justin Trudeau

The last time a Trudeau was in power he imposed the National Energy Program, which devastated Alberta’s oil industry.

If we didn’t have the strong leadership of Peter Lougheed, who stood up for Alberta to Trudeau's NEP, it would have been much worse for our province.

Today, the NDP is cheering on Justin Trudeau’s plans for a national job-killing carbon tax, a national coal phase out, and more payroll tax hikes. The NDP’s silence on pipelines should be a big concern for Albertans.

Jason will fight back and stand up to Trudeau in Ottawa.

JASON KENNEY ON THE ISSUES

Issue

Position

Carbon Tax

No carbon taxes. Period.

Bill 6

Gone. Farmers and ranchers know what’s best for their farms.

Jobs

Reverse the NDP’s 20% tax hike on job creators and cut the property taxes of small business owners.

Pipelines

Getting our oil to new markets is Jason’s number one economic priority. He will ensure that the rule of law, not mob rule govern decisions regarding pipeline approvals.

Early Coal Phase Out

Canceled Day 1. Instead, let’s focus on clean coal technology like Saskatchewan has done successfully.

Oil and Gas

Scrap the 100 Megaton Cap the NDP has placed on the oilsands industry. Restore Alberta as the most competitive oil and gas jurisdiction in North America to attract capital back from Texas, North Dakota, and other jurisdictions.

Rona Ambrose

Rona Ambrose, Conservative Party of Canada Interim Leader Endorses Jason Kenney

I’m incredibly proud and happy that Jason has stepped forward to help lead this movement and I’m behind him 100 percent.
I hope that all Conservatives in Alberta get together and do what they need to do to create a united path to victory.
